Shakira Johnson
Shakira received a BSc. with first class Honours in molecular plant pathology from La Trobe University in 2012. Shakira is currently a Ph.D. candidate working on pear scab disease. She is supported by a La Trobe University Postgraduates scholarship and a top up scholarship from the Plant Biosecurity Cooperative Research Centre. Her work is based at the Agricultural Biosciences Centre (AgriBio), La Trobe University. Her focus is on non-host resistance and its potential utility in plant breeding for durable disease resistance. She has a keen interest in science communication, policy and education.
