Alexander M Piper

Alexander Piper is part of the Invertebrate and Weed Sciences group at Agriculture Victoria. His research focuses on the importance of microbes in the ecology and behaviour of insect pests and how these interactions can be utilised to improve control methods. As part of PBCRC 3152 Alex has been studying the yeasts associated with the Queensland fruit fly and the volatile signals they produce. Alex will be starting a PhD in July with the topic of Genomic tools to improve molecular diagnostics and control of fruit fly pests.
